C-Mac sounds off on big gripe with John Mara's Giants comments
Giants owner John Mara told reporters on Wednesday that Joe Schoen and Brian Daboll will remain in their positions through the end of the season and into the 2025 campaign, even as the third season under the current regime seems to be going nowhere fast.
C-Mac is fine with sticking with the current leadership, but he took issue with Mara giving Daniel Jones a vote of confidence as well, as he says that belief doesn’t make sense if the plan is to stick with Daboll and Schoen.
“Let me be clear on this one thing. The Giants, if they are going to move forward with this head coach and this GM, who were specifically brought here because of the job they did in Buffalo…both helping draft and develop Josh Allen,” C-Mac said.
“For the owner to come out and say ‘We’re being stable here’…it doesn’t make any sense. If you are going to stick with this coach and this GM, the only thing that makes sense is to allow them to draft and pick their quarterback of the future. If you continue to play Daniel Jones…and try to win every game you can, it is contradictory to what is the best-suited strength of both of these gentlemen! The strength is developing and assessing the quarterback position!”
If the strength of Schoen and Daboll is developing a young quarterback like they did with Allen in Buffalo, then Jones has to go, clearing room for the team to draft a new QB next year and finally begin a process that many felt Schoen and Daboll should have been able to do when they first arrived in New York. Continuing to voice belief in Jones only complicates that objective, and likely delays the team’s chances of starting over, and eventually getting better, at the position.
“God forbid he gets hut and is locked in on the roster for next season, you are cutting the legs out front under this head coach and GM to do what they do best,” C-Mac said.
