C-Mac wouldn't bring Gleyber Torres back for 'one dollar,' but he's not trading him

C-Mac is done with Gleyber Torres as a Yankee, but that doesn’t mean he is ready to trade him.

“I want as many good offensive players as possible, and I still believe Gleyber Torres is a good offensive player,” C-Mac said. “I like Gleyber as a person…nothing against him personally. Gleyber Torres not only won’t be a Yankee next year. He can’t be a Yankee next year. I want him gone like everyone else.

“I don’t care if he’ll play for a dollar. I don’t want Gleyber Torres here next year. But moving forward this year, I’m afraid to let go of anyone who is hitting fairly well with the way this offense has gone.”

Torres is batting over .300 over his last 20 games, and had a big two-run single in Sunday’s win over the Red Sox, and C-Mac wants to see Torres remain on the roster for another two months and be another solid bat option, as he doesn’t believe the return for Torres would be worth losing his offensive potential in an all-in season.

“People want Jonathan India, but Jonathan India could be awful. Jazz Chisholm might not get another hit, or he might no be able to stay healthy. I have no idea,” C-Mac said. “I’m willing to ride with [Torres]. I’m ready to have a bench with Torres on it…I’m not trading away any good players, because I can’t afford to.”
