C-Mac: Yankee fans being overly dramatic about Jordan Montgomery trade

Yankee fans were angry all over again about the Jordan Montgomery trade on Sunday night, as the Rangers lefty shut out the Astros over 6.1 innings of work in a 2-0 win for Texas to open up the ALCS.

Montgomery outdueled Justin Verlander, and shut down a Houston team that the Yankees have been unable to solve in October since losing to them in the 2015 American League Wild Card Game.

Still, C-Mac believes those angry Yankee fans are ignoring some key components of the trade that shipped Montgomery out of New York, and are overreaction to the lefty’s recent postseason success.

“Every time he throws a pitch, it’s used for the Cashman haters to come out and bring up another move they hate,” C-Mac said. “It was a bad trade. The better player left, and the worse player came in…I will never say different. But it doesn’t bother me and it doesn’t keep me up nights. It’s not just that they got an outfielder that they eventually cut…last year, that trade was done at the deadline because they needed a center fielder and another bat for their playoff run.

“They had Cole, they had Severino, they had Nestor Cortes…here’s what they got, for a year and a half of Montgomery. Harrison Bader had a 1.200 OPS in the postseason, and we throw that away and say it was meaningless because they didn’t win. What if Texas doesn’t win this series? Do we throw away these Montgomery starts?”

Time will tell of Montgomery will be celebrating a pennant that the Yankees have been chasing for the last 14 years, but if he does, the anger from Yankee fans over that trade will not grow any quieter.
