Cam Reddish, after spending more than two months on the Knicks bench without logging a single second of playing time, finally saw the court again on Friday night in his Blazers debut, logging nearly 18 minutes while shooting 4-of-7 from the field for 11 points in a loss to the Thunder.
“It’s been a long time,” Reddish told reporters after the game. “It felt great though…felt good to be back out there.”
Asked why it didn’t work out in New York, where he was exiled from Tom Thibodeau’s rotation early in the season, Reddish clearly didn’t want to spend much time looking back at his previous stop.
“I don’t know,” Reddish said.
Whatever led to Reddish’s long-term benching with the Knicks, which included being passed up even in garbage time situations (though the Knicks haven’t had much of that this season), Reddish is now feeling “free” to play basketball again, and enjoyed sharing the court with Damian Lillard and his new teammates.
“I think it’s just more free mentally for me, already,” Reddish said. “I feel like just being free mentally is a huge difference.
“It just felt that good. It’s been a long time since I felt like that. I was actually having dinner with my friend with his family back home in Philly, and I got that [trade] call. It was an exciting moment for all of us.”
