Could Daniel Jones revive his career with Vikings? BT and Sal disagree

Daniel Jones has reportedly found his new home in the place where he enjoyed the apex of his NFL career.

According to multiple reports, including NFL insider Jordan Schultz, the former Giants quarterback is signing with the Vikings, the team he dominated in the playoffs in 2022 before his career tanked over the past two seasons. Jones was benched by Big Blue, dropped to the fourth-string quarterback, and eventually released, and now has a new home just days after he became able to sign with other teams.

Minnesota head coach Kevin O’Connell praised Jones when asked about him earlier this week, and now, Jones and O’Connell will be paired together, a duo that BT believes will pay dividends for Jones, who will be looking to revive his career after his $160 million contract with the Giants turned into a disaster.

“It’s perfect for him,” BT said. “They revived Sam Darnold. I’m sure they’ll do the same with Daniel Jones.”

The Vikings could move on from Sam Darnold after this season and turn to top-10 pick J.J. McCarthy in 2025, as the rookie is out for the year with a torn meniscus. Jones could be McCarthy’s backup or potentially even start the season next year if McCarthy isn’t ready, but Sal doesn’t believe there will be any kind of career revival for Jones in Minnesota.

“There’s no such thing as a quarterback whisperer,” Sal said. “Anyone who thinks that Daniel Jones all of a sudden - who for six years has failed to play the position well - is gonna turn into a stud, I’m just not buying it.”
