Lincoln Financial Field will be rocking on Saturday night when the Giants visit the Eagles, as Philadelphia’s notoriously boisterous fanbase will be front and center for the next chapter of this storied rivalry.
For Big Blue, it is a chance to pull off another upset and secure an improbable spot in the NFC title game. But one of their best players won’t have his mother in attendance to see the game.
Why? Because Dexter Lawrence won’t allow it. He knows his mom, Julia Parker, would be going at it with Eagles fans during the game.
“I know their fans are gonna be out there. I hope we travel well,” Lawrence told reporters on Tuesday. “[They’re] gritty. Hard-nosed. I told my mom she can’t come to the games, because she’ll go back at them. But it should be fun. I’m excited.”
Lawrence represents one of the key factors to the Giants pulling off the upset on Saturday, as he will be lined up against a likely future Hall of Famer in Jason Kelce at the line of scrimmage. But if he has it his way, his mom will be watching on TV, as many expect a wild environment at The Linc.
“Their crowd is brutal,” Andrew Thomas said. “It helps when their team is as good as they are. We’re looking forward to it. It's nothing but us against the world, that's the mentality that we have.”
