Kenyan Middleton ripped the White Sox in an interview with ESPN this past weekend, calling out players for sleeping in the bullpen and the franchise for harboring a losing culture.
Now with the Yankees, the reliever was back in Chicago on Wednesday night with New York visiting his former team, and a viral video taken inside the stadium showed that Middleton’s name was mysteriously left off the scoreboards where the pitcher’s name typically would be.
As Middleton took the mound, the space on the scoreboard that would have the pitcher’s name was left blank, and baseball fans collectively surmised that it was a response to Middleton bashing his former club.
It’s impossible to say whether the omission was intentional or not, but there was plenty speculation about it on social media.
Middleton tossed two innings and allowed one run, the only run he has allowed in five inning of work since being traded to the Yankees.
