Don Mattingly is getting another shot at managing.

The Phillies announced Tuesday morning that Rob Thomson has been relieved of his duties, and Mattingly will take over as interim manager. The team added in its press release that Mattingly will hold the position through the end of the 2026 season.

Mattingly, who surprisingly left his bench coach role with the reigning AL champion Blue Jays to join Thomson's staff this past offseason, last managed a team back in 2022, his final season with the Marlins. He managed in Miami for seven seasons, compiling a 443-587 record while reaching the postseason just once, coming in the pandemic-shortened 2020 campaign.

The beloved Yankee great also spent five seasons managing the Dodgers from 2011-15, reaching the playoffs in his final three seasons but never making it past the NLCS.

Mattingly inherits a Phillies team in complete disarray, holding a 9-19 record despite coming into the season with expectations of a deep playoff run.
