Turns out, Jets wide receiver Elijah Moore wasn’t too happy with former offensive coordinator Mike LaFleur at the time of his trade request earlier this season.

As reported by The Athletic’s Zack Rosenblatt, things came to a head in practice after Moore cryptically tweeted his frustrations regarding his usage following a win against the Packers. Moore, who didn’t log a single target in that game, blew up on LaFleur and told him “go f--k yourself,’ and ‘you suck,’ per Rosenblatt.

The team maintained its commitment to Moore, who settled in and found more of a role within the offense before the unit as a whole sputtered down the stretch of the season, failing to log a single touchdown in the final three games of the season. But Moore was clearly frustrated with his role in the offense, and according to Rosenblatt, other members of the Jets offense were frustrated with Zach Wilson during the season.

As Rosenblatt notes, multiple players “openly grumbled” in team meetings and practices when Wilson returned to the starting role after Mike White, a player they openly raved about, went down with a ribs injury. Head coach Robert Saleh was reportedly working to ease tensions in the locker room as players were “increasingly frustrated” with the lack of production from Wilson, who couldn’t make the most of his chance to win the starting role back when White was hurt, and appears to be on his way to being replaced next season.

LaFleur is already set to be replaced, as he and the Jets agreed to part ways earlier this month. Even LaFleur was reportedly frustrated with Wilson’s inability to get a hold of the offense, and will now seek an opportunity with a more stable quarterback situation. Meanwhile, the Jets will likely look for some quarterback stability of their own this offseason.
