Evan ruffled the feathers of some Yankee fans when he declared that the Astros are in the midst of surpassing the Yankees dynasty of the late 1990s.
He likely made them even angrier with his next declaration.
“Jose Altuve is better than Derek Jeter,” Evan said. “He kind of is.”
To make his point, Evan broke out postseason numbers.
“I’m gonna go right down your alley, Yankee fans of the late 90s,” Evan said. “What I was always told was, look at the postseason. Derek Jeter played 158 postseason games, a very respectable 20 home runs and 61 RBI. Altuve has played in 96 of them. Twenty four home runs, and 50 RBI.
“Altuve has scored 80 runs in his postseason career. Derek Jeter? Forty seven, and that’s in 64 more postseason games.”
Jeter has the edge in what mattered most to him, having five World Series rings compared to Altuve’s two (so far), but that isn’t stopping Evan from riling up Yankee fans like Morash.
“Here’s the reality,” Evan said. “Jose Altuve has passed Derek Jeter.”
