Evan has been openly critical about Brian Daboll’s coaching this season, even opining that the second-year head coach has developed a reputation of coaching “cowardly” after presenting the opposite last season.
But now, Evan says Daboll has shown that he is the long-term answer for the Giants, which has evaded the franchise for years.
“If Brian Daboll was the head coach of the New York Jets, 9-4,” Evan said, declaring that Gang Green would be in a much better place with Daboll instead of Robert Saleh. “Even without Aaron [Rodgers], and even with all the criticisms I’ve had about Brian Daboll this year.
“What Brian Daboll has done, for even someone like me who is a skeptic because I’ve seen so much bad, I think it’s clear as day that this guy clearly knows what he’s doing. He’s the guy.”
The Giants still have plenty of questions moving forward as they continue through their second year of the Daboll/Joe Schoen era, but one question that has been answered is the one regarding the head coach’s pedigree.
“There’s no need to worry as a Giant fan,” Evan said. “I’d be more impressed by now than I would be even with what he did last year.”
