Loogy admittedly felt some excitement when he heard Chris Broussard on FS1 talk about "scuttlebutt" that Joel Embiid wants to join the Knicks amid the drama unfolding in Philadelphia, but Evan quickly came with a bucket of cold water to pour on that hot stove.
Evan warned that any Knicks fan letting themselves be hopeful for an Embiid arrival are forgetting the years of evidence, including recently, that stars still shun Madison Square Garden for other destinations.
"You link everybody to your team, but nobody wants to go there," Evan said. "Damian Lillard requested a trade and included three teams, and you weren't on the list. Kevin Durant had a chance to come to New York and he did, and he didn't pick your team. There is a long list of this.
"You guys get duped all the time on this."
The circumstances have changed, as the Knicks are now a team on the rise with a solid foundation and loads of draft capital, but Evan says stars still don't seem to want to come to New York, so fans are left with nothing but false hope.
"The Knicks are a really well-run organization," Evan said. "I'm not attacking their roster or the way they're built, of even their game plan. I'm attacking you for believing anything that gives you your superstar."
