Evan: NFL sees fans as 'props,' proves they don't care with Thursday Night Football flexing

The NFL owners generated just enough votes to flex Thursday Night Football games this season, and while there are plenty of stipulations, Evan says it is proof that the league doesn’t care about the fans purchasing tickets to see games live.

It’s all about the TV money.

“You bought tickets on a Sunday afternoon, and now with 13 days notice, it gets moved to a Thursday,” Evan said. “For Roger Goodell and any other commissioners, we are props. They don’t really care about you. This is minor to them.”

For fans in New York, Evan says they can at least take comfort in the fact that the local owners were against the idea of allowing Sunday games to be “flexed” to Thursday, part of the league’s effort to avoid another disastrous Thursday Night Football slate like last season, where ugly games like the Jets and Jaguars were shown to a national audience.

“I want to commend John Mara and Woody Johnson, because both organizations in our town said ‘no,’” Evan said.

“John Mara has been outspoken in saying this is bad for the consumer, and he’s right. But the league doesn’t care about that.”
