Evan and Tiki began Tuesday’s show by going through a checklist of potential offseason additions for the Knicks, and one particular player would fit “perfectly” with this team in the eyes of Evan.
It’s a name Knicks fans became all-too familiar with in recent weeks in Pacers forward Pascal Siakam, who lit it up from midrange and in the paint against New York to erase a 3-2 series deficit for Indiana.
“He can’t defend the way he did five years ago…but he’s a solid defensive player,” Evan said. “You have the Siakam/OG Anunoby chemistry, assuming they re-sign him, and you saw it in games six and seven. He’s a matchup problem who can fill the basket.”
Siakam won a title with the Raptors in 2019, and has proven playoff experience that Evan believes would work well in New York. The only issue would be that the Knicks would have to get very creative with the salary cap.
“The problem is, he’s a free agent and the Knicks don’t have cap space,” Evan said. “It would have to be a sign-and-trade…a Julius Randle/draft pick-led sign-and-trade.”
