Evan Roberts was the runner-up behind Jerry Recco for the 2021 Pulse of the People Award – but there is ZERO chance he will win in 2022, or possibly ever.

The Pulse of the People Committee made a major announcement on Monday, banning Roberts indefinitely from PotP consideration for “slandering the committee and our nominee in a way that cannot be tolerated.”

The reason? On Friday, during Carton & Roberts’ weekly Blame Pole segment, Evan put the Pulse of the People Committee on the pole for nominating MLB Commissioner Rob Manfred as the fifth finalist for the 2022 Award.

“I cannot stand idly by and let that happen. The Pulse of the People committee is an institution, and now it has disgraced itself,” Roberts said Friday. “It gives this cockamamie idea that Rob Manfred saved baseball – Rob Manfred tried to kill baseball! How dare you make him a finalist?”

Roberts was against the nomination when it was announced, and went off on the above rant later in the show…and probably now regrets it, as he will NOT join Manfred, Joe Douglas, Steve Cohen, Boomer Esiason, Stu Feiner, Kyrie Irving, and any remaining finalists yet to be announced in contention for the 2022 Award.

Evan quickly responded on air: "I had all weekend to think about this, and I stand by every last word I said. Rob Manfred being named a finalist for the award is despicable, and I called it like it is. My official words are this: I stand by my words and actions, and I will stand with the people against Rob Manfred as a finalist for this once-prestigious award."

It might get kind of awkward when Evan is "sitting first row" as the Pulse of the People Award is handed out on June 30th at Gotham Comedy Club...but hopefully, this reminder of his athletic prowess will help Evan self-soothe enough to apologize to the committee…
