Fans roast Yankees after Jordan Montgomery dominates Rays in playoff opener

The Yankees are watching the playoffs from home for the first time in seven years, while castoff Jordan Montgomery is dominating on the October stage.

Montgomery, who was traded to the Cardinals by the Yanks last season, is now with the Rangers, and thriving, getting the ball in game one of the Wild Card Series and shutting the Rays out for seven innings in an eventual 4-0 win.

Fans quickly roasted the Yankees on social media, noting reports from last summer that Montgomery was deemed expendable because the front office did not see him as being a factor in their postseason pitching plans. So, he was dealt for Harrison Bader, who was a major offensive factor for the Yanks in the 2022 playoffs, but was placed on waivers earlier this season after multiple injuries and extended offensive struggles.

Now, Montgomery is a part of the Rangers' playoff plans, and he was on top of his game, allowing six hits and no walks while striking out five to put Texas on the cusp of advancing to the ALDS.
