You can’t stop Giancarlo Stanton, and you can’t even hope to contain him at this point, as he made some Yankees team and MLB overall history in Game 3 of the 2020 ALDS.

In the eighth inning, Stanton launched a 410-foot blast to center field that made only a small dent in the scoreboard (turning an 8-2 deficit into 8-4), but what was his sixth of this postseason gave him these two accolades: he became the first Yankees player ever to homer in five straight postseason games (and only the fourth player all-time to do it), and tied A-Rod (2009) and Bernie Williams (1996) for the most homers by a Yankee in a single postseason.

Carlos Beltran (five in 2004), Daniel Murphy (six straight in 2015), and George Springer (five between 2017 and 2018) are the only other three players to homer in at least five straight playoff games, and Stanton broke a tie with Lou Gehrig and Mr. October himself, Reggie Jackson, who shared the previous Yankees record of four games in a row.

Non si puo stopparlo, indeed!
