Amid reports that there is “drama brewing” in the Giants locker room thanks to “tension” between Brian Daboll and Wink Martindale, Daboll made sure to squash that rumor by giving Sunday’s game ball to his defensive coordinator after Big Blue beat the lowly Patriots.
FOX Sports’ Jay Glazer reported Sunday that that Daboll and Martindale were in “such a bad place” that Martindale likely wouldn’t be back next season, if he survives the season at all. But on Sunday, Daboll embraced Martindale with the game ball, tossing it to him in the Giants locker room after voicing his support for him during his postgame press conference, when asked about the report.
Daboll told reporters that the only thing he and Martindale ever argue over is who will get the “last slice of pizza,” and spoke highly of the defensive coordinator.
Martindale, after last year’s successful campaign with the Giants, had interviews to coach elsewhere, but returned to New York, stressing that he didn’t see his role with Big Blue as a “stepping stone” in any way.
