Leonard Williams disappeared into the Giants’ locker room early in the second quarter of Sunday’s lopsided loss to the Chargers, and he will now be heading to the MRI tube.
The defensive lineman suffered an elbow injury during the first half and was initially listed as questionable to return, but he was never able to make it back onto the field, and head coach Joe Judge told reporters after the game that Williams will undergo an MRI.
Williams logged one tackle before exiting the game, and left a gaping hole in Big Blue’s defense, as Williams is arguably the team’s top defensive lineman. The former Jet and sixth overall pick has 5.5 sacks on the season after logging 11.5 last year, and has 25 solo tackles, nearly equaling his mark of 57 last season.
