Giants place three on PUP list, Azeez Ojulari on NFI list

The Giants have reported to camp, and the team made four roster moves on Tuesday, placing offensive linemen Nick Gates and Matt Peart and wide receiver Sterling Shepard on the PUP list and EDGE Azeez Ojulari on the Non-Football Injury list with a hamstring issue.

That’s good news for a slew of Giants who spent much of OTAs and minicamps in red injury-designation jerseys, including top pick Kayvon Thibodeaux and 2020 top pick Kadarius Toney, and linebacker Blacke Martinez, who missed much of last season with a torn ACL.

Gates is still recovering from the spiral fracture in his left leg that ended his 2021 season after two games and could still end his career, while Peart (ACL) and Shepard (Achilles) are rehabbing from their own leg injuries suffered later in the season.

Per Newsday’s Tom Rock, Ojulari is an NFI designation because his hamstring injury occurred away from the team earlier this month, and that designation “protects the Giants if it develops into something potentially season-ending,” even though it’s believed he’ll be good to go sometime in the next month.

The Giants added four other bodies to camp Tuesday, signing veterans DB Andrew Adams, WR Marcus Kemp, T Kamaal Seymour, and DE Nick Williams.
To make room, they waived DB Henry Black, DT Jabari Ellis, and WR Travis Toivonen, and terminated the contract of vested veteran CB Maurice Canady.
