Giants turning attention to Aaron Rodgers after missing out on Matthew Stafford: Report

The Rams are officially bringing back Matthew Stafford, ending the Giants' quest to land the future Hall of Famer, as Big Blue was not-so-secretly pushing to bring the veteran to New York.

Now, according to multiple reports (including Dianna Russini of The Athletic), Big Blue is shifting its focus to another Hall of Fame QB, one that football fans in the area are very familiar with.

Per Russini, the Giants have now "shifted their interest" to Aaron Rodgers, as Brian Daboll and Joe Schoen clearly covet a veteran quarterback who they believe can help turn things around quickly and save their jobs in New York. Russini reports that the Giants brass had been discussing Rodgers as a potential addition all week at the combine, and it would be a very short trip for the 41-year-old from his former home with the Jets.

Rodgers flirted with 4,000 passing yards with Gang Green last season, but he botched multiple chances at game-winning drives, and the Jets season ended with just five wins and a house cleaning that saw Robert Saleh and Joe Douglas lose their jobs. Now, if Rodgers does sign with the Giants, he'll be representing another New York team with its regime on the hot seat.

The Giants will have to make a critical decision at quarterback this offseason, whether it be add a veteran like Rodgers and use their top draft pick on the best player regardless of position, or still draft a QB to be Rodgers' eventual replacement, or prioritize playing a rookie like Shedeur Sanders or Cam Ward in 2025.
