Gio: Giants walking into a 'buzzsaw' against Dolphins, but Boomer sees opportunity

The struggling Giants have to travel to Miami to take on the Dolphins on Sunday, a team that is coming off their first loss of the season, which was in humiliating fashion to the rival Bills.

Gio says that is a recipe for disaster for the Giants, as Miami will be hungry to get back on track, armed with their elite offense.

Still, Sunday could be an opportunity for Daniel Jones and company to show signs of promise, even if it is in a loss, much like the Jets did on Sunday night against the Chiefs.

“This is going to be ‘walking into a buzzsaw’ spot,” Gio said. “When the spotlight is on you in the NFL, like when the spotlight was on Zach Wilson and the Jets, it can go one way or another. To Zach’s credit, he changed that narrative about him by playing that well. He still fumbled in a key spot, but everybody felt different about Zach Wilson coming out of that game, including his teammates.

“Now, Daniel Jones…is getting that opportunity again. He played an entire season last year with everybody waiting for him to fail, not get that contract, and be on another organization. So this should be a comfortable spot for him.”

Boomer agrees that the Dolphins offense should scare the Giants, but their defense is not nearly as strong, especially with Jalen Ramsey still out. So, it could be a chance for Jones to get into a rhythm, regain his confidence, and pull out a stunning upset.

“This is like a 4x4, 100 meter relay on the field at any time for the Dolphins,” Boomer said of the Dolphins skill position players on the offensive side. “I’d give everyone a C4 or 5 Hour Energy drink and say ‘Let’s go, let’s wake up. Let’s not come up in a coma and get steamrolled.’

“They’re playing against one of the worst defenses. Everyone forgets, defense does win championships. That’s one of the reasons the Eagles got to where they were last year…if you’re a quarterback going into this game, you have to win by taking care of the football and making big plays. The Dolphins have shown a propensity to give up big plays.”
