After watching In Season Hard Knocks with the Dolphins, Gio went off on the differences between Miami and the Jets, the team that was featured on the show before the season began.

“There were two assistant coaches from San Francisco. One was Robert Saleh, the Jets hired him. The other was Mike McDaniel, the Dolphins hired him,” Gio said. “You got genius offensive head coach who was doing things with that offense that other teams are not doing, and you’ve got statue Robert Saleh and his beard dye with his arms crossed watching another season go down in flames.

“The Dolphins select Tua Tagovailoa with the fifth overall pick. He is in the MVP conversation for this year. The Jets selected Zach Wilson with the second overall pick. He is the stone-cold worst quarterback I’ve ever seen with my two eyes. Tyreek Hill was available. It was down to the Jets and Dolphins. Maybe it wasn’t completely in their control because of Miami and the taxes and all that. But guess who got him? The Dolphins got him, and the Jets did not.”

Gio can’t get over the difference in feel around these two teams now, after all the hype surrounding the Jets in the preseason. Instead, the focus is on Gang Green’s head coach and failed No. 2 overall pick, while Miami continues to build a contender around one of the most exciting offenses in the league.

“Both of these teams were in dire straits and had to make franchise-altering decisions,” Gio said. “One is on their way to running away with the division, and the other is in ashes once again.

“You can tell [McDaniel] is authentic, you can tell the players love him…the practices are fun, and meanwhile, you’ve got monument Saleh standing there just reason off TikTok inspirational messages.”
