There was more drama around the NBA on Thursday night, as Giannis Antetokounmpo battled with Pacers players to try and retrieve the game ball from his franchise record 64 points. This came the same day Draymond Green was issued an indefinite suspension for throwing a punch at Jursuf Nurkic on the court.
Gio says the league has become “unhinged” as a result of its newest initiative.
“There could have been serious fights…you can’t be running back there aggressively to the other team’s locker room, trying to take something from them,” Gio said. “The NBA is unhinged, man, I’m telling you, it’s because of the NBA Cup. They got all these guys all riled up because of the NBA Cup. Now they’re punching each other, taking each other’s basketballs and all kind of stuff.”
But, at the same time, it adds intrigue to a league that desperately needs some during the regular season, so basketball fans can’t be too mad about it.
“I do kind of like it,” Gio laughed. “One of the big knocks on the NBA regular season is that they don’t care enough, don’t try hard, and that they mail it in.”
