Gio not scared at all by Jets gauntlet of a schedule to begin season, expects 4-2 start

The Jets learned their full 2023 schedule on Thursday night, and Aaron Rodgers and company are being thrown right into the fire.

Gang Green hosts the Bills in Week 1, then visits the Cowboys in Week 2 before home games against the Patriots and Chiefs. After an easier task with the Broncos in Week 5, the team’s next two games are against the Eagles and Giants.

It is a gauntlet of an early season schedule, but Gio isn’t sweating it at all.

“The Jets are supposed to be a great team,” Gio said. “You got the Bills, at Cowboys, the Patriots at the home, and you have to smack them around. Then you host the Chiefs, then at Denver.

“Sure, they’re difficult, but you can’t tell me the Jets can’t go 4-2 in those six games. Even with that tough schedule, you’re expecting 4-2.”

A 4-2 start seems reasonable, as Denver and New England are both very winnable games, while Buffalo may take a slight step backward this season. Still, it’s going to be a tough test right away for Rodgers and the young Jets core, but Gio thinks the team is up to the task.

“I love the Jets roster,” Gio said. “I think Aaron Rodgers is gonna be great. I’m not scared of that schedule.”
