Denzel Mims has asked the Jets for a trade via his agent, but Gio couldn’t help but laugh at thinking New York would get anything back for the depth receiver who is now long removed from a somewhat promising rookie campaign.
“‘I’m requesting a trade.’ You hand him a hammer and say, ‘Carpentry. That’s your trade, because we’re not getting crap back,’” Gio joked.
“He’s the seventh wide receiver on the Jets right now. Good luck.”
With Elijah Moore and Garrett Wilson being taken in the last two drafts, and Braxton Berrios re-signing this offseason, Mims doesn’t seem to have a spot on the team, and Boomer doesn’t think the Jets will be able to get much back for him either, if anything.
“He’ll probably be released,” Boomer said. “I think he’s just had enough. He’s frustrated, and he should probably move on.”
