As the Yankee offense just struck out 42 times in a three-game sweep at the hands of the Angels, Gio jokingly played out a scenario where new hitting coach Sean Casey called his old job to see if he could come back and escape the current mess in the Bronx.

“‘Hello, MLB Network programming,’” Gio said, impersonating an employee at MLB Network, where Casey was before the Yanks hired him to replace Dillon Lawson. “’Oh, hey Sean, you want to come back already? OK, no problem, I just figured you would hang around for the rest of the season, at least.’

“‘You’re still in HR. we’ll figure it out.’”

All jokes aside, the Yankee offense has been dreadful of late, and Casey has not had an immediate impact on the lineup, which continues to struggle to generate any offense.

“At least Franchy Cordero is back,” Boomer joked. “My favorite Yankee.”
