It’s been almost seven years since Odell Beckham’s iconic fingertip catch against Dallas, the play that announced his arrival as a legitimate NFL superstar. Could this be the sequel?
That’s Zackarrey Kelley of Great Crossing High School in Georgetown, Kentucky (about 15 miles north of Lexington) defying gravity with an unbelievable one-handed touchdown grab in Friday’s 42-6 rout of East Jessamine. That was one of three touchdowns on the night for Kelley, who quickly went viral, appearing on ESPN’s SportsCenter while garnering over 300,000 views on Twitter.
If he wasn’t already, Kelley’s mind-blowing catch should put him firmly on the college recruiting radar. Some have noted Kelley’s touchdown wouldn’t have counted in the NFL, where both feet are required to stay inbounds, but that shouldn’t take away from the junior wide receiver’s heroics. Kelley and the undefeated Warhawks will take a 4-0 record into next week’s home showdown with Bourbon County.
