Boomer & Gio: Imagine if Bill Belichick's last game as Patriots head coach is loss to Jets

Boomer and Gio are fascinated to get to the last game of the NFL regular season, to see how the Jets fare against the Patriots in Foxborough in Week 18.

Mainly from the perspective of Bill Belichick, who many wonder if he is in his final season as Patriots head coach with New England laboring through a disastrous season. Belichick, who has owned the Jets in his career, and doesn’t seem to like them much, could see his illustrious tenure with the Pats end with a loss to a Gang Green team that is also suffering through a lost season.

Would Belichick be able to handle going out like that?

“If his last game as Patriots head coach is a loss to the Jets, he would not be able to deal with that,” Gio said. “He would have to come back another year, just for one more game, and then retire. He cannot end on that.”

Boomer will be locked in on the game, even if it is between two bad teams, as it could leave an all-time great coach going out on the sourest of notes, like Coach K’s Duke career ending with a March Madness loss to hated North Carolina.

“Maybe Zach [Wilson] gets to exact revenge,” Boomer said. “It’s an extract revenge game.”
