Audacy made it official on Wednesday: Spike Eskin, currently the brand manager for 94WIP in Philadelphia, is coming up the Turnpike this summer to succeed the legendary Mark Chernoff as VP of Programming for both WFAN and CBS Sports Radio.
The new boss will transition into the role for the next two months, officially taking over on July 1 – WFAN’s 34th anniversary – with Chernoff officially stepping down on June 30.
Eskin, 44, has been WIP’s program director since 2014 and has a long history in Philadelphia radio, including being the last voice heard on 94.1 WYSP before the station flipped formats and became the FM home of WIP Sports Radio in 2011.
That said, even with his history and his role as the co-host of WIP’s “Rights to Ricky Sanchez” podcast, Eskin is a New York sports guy, and is “honored and excited” to be taking over at the flagship – and as he said in his post on Twitter, that podcast will live on!
