Wink Martindale has reportedly resigned as defensive coordinator of the Giants, and BT and Sal are split on whether it is a good or bad thing for the Giants.
“Can somebody tell me how that’s good? The spin job with that is insane,” BT said. “I think Wink is much more of an asset and very hard to replace…it’s not gonna be easy to replace him. Continuity matters.
“He’s good. Bottom line is he’s an asset. Whoever they bring in, I’d put money down that they’re not gonna be better than Wink.”
Sal agrees that Martindale is an asset, but he believes his departure is a good thing for Big Blue, mainly because of what it says about the head coach.
“The defense wasn’t even that good…I know he’s a good defensive coordinator…however, you cannot have someone overstepping his boundaries and potentially disrespecting the head coach,” Sal said. “That’s why I think this is a great thing for the Giants. It shows Brian Daboll is in complete control of his team…I think the Giants are handling this the right way, and good for Daboll.”
