The Devils will look to start a winning streak on Tuesday night against the Sharks, and when they do, their former No. 1 draft pick will be back on the ice.

Head coach Lindy Ruff told reporters on Tuesday morning that Jack Hughes will be back in the lineup after skating with the team, after the 20-year-old missed over a month with a dislocated shoulder.

“He’s ready to go,” Ruff said.

Hughes suffered the injury after being hit into the boards in a win over the Kraken on Oct. 19. Ten days later, the Devils announced that Hughes would be re-evaluated in five weeks, so his return before the end of November is certainly a welcomed sight for New Jersey.

The 2019 first overall pick has played in just two games this season, but has two goals and an assist in that time. Ruff told reporters that Hughes has been “bugging” him for a week to return to the ice, and now, he will have that chance to give the 9-6-4 Devils a spark.

“Starting at home and playing in front of our fans, it'll be a lot of fun,” Hughes said. “I had this date circled. I probably got in sooner than most thought.”
