It was nine years ago this month that Linsanity was truly unleashed on the world, Jeremy Lin's 25 points against the Nets on Feb. 4, 2012, kick-starting a month where he averaged 20.9 points and 8.4 assists for the Knicks after coming out of nowhere.
Based on his performance against the G-League Knicks Saturday night, he may be ready for Round 2.
Lin, who is playing with the Santa Cruz Warriors this year, dropped 29 points (including 7-for-9 shooting from three-point land) with nine assists in Santa Cruz's 124-116 win over the Westchester Knicks Saturday night inside the G-League Bubble.
Lin won a championship with the Raptors in 2019, but spent last season in the Chinese Basketball Association, where he averaged 22.3 points, 5.7 rebounds, and 5.6 assists in 39 games. He had offers to stay, but chose the G-League route to try to get back to the NBA, and is now averaging 17.3 points through his first three games.
"I think it became really clear after free agency passed and I wasn't able to get a contract, there was no way I was gonna get a contract basically unless I go and show it," Lin told Shams Charania last week. "I played last year in China and had a good year and have been healthy two straight seasons, but there are still so many questions about my body and my health from league executives. For me, I had to go and play in the G League."
Lin's NBA journey started with the Warriors in 2010-11, when he suited up for 29 games and became the first Taiwanese-American to play in the NBA. He spent 2011-12 with the Knicks before moving to Houston, and his nine years in the league also included stops with the Lakers, Hornets, Nets (where he played just 37 of a possible 164 games due to injury) and Hawks before spending the second half of 2018-19 in Toronto.
