The Yankees are 3-9 in their last 12, have lost four straight series, and look nothing like they did the first two months of the season since the calendar turned to June.
But Aaron Judge is still slashing .309/.433/.712 this season and hit his MLB-leading 30th dinger last night, and no matter how the Yankees look, Judge looks like something great to one intrepid update anchor.
“Judge is the best player I’ve ever seen,” Jerry Recco said Wednesday during the Warm-Up Show, and later, during the morning show proper, Gio asked why Judge and not Ohtani.
“I don’t watch him every day, and I’m sure if I was in Los Angeles it’d be different,” Jerry said, “and I think Ohtani is fabulous, but to be honest with you, I would just take Judge over Ohtani. Very good, great slugger, but Judge plays center field every day. Ohtani DH’s and pitches every fifth day when he pitches. As a DH, you’re a part of a baseball game for all of four minutes. Aaron Judge does both.”
Seen is apparently the operative word here, which both Boomer & Gio were incredulous about, but, hey, Jerry’s on our side in NYC, so we’ll take it!
