Gio: Jets should offer 'major draft pick' to Cowboys for Cooper Rush

Gio has no belief in Zach Wilson leading the Jets to the playoffs, and sees him once again being the one gaping hole in a roster that is otherwise ready to contend.

That’s why Gio would be picking up the phone and calling Gang Green’s Week 2 opponent to gauge Cooper Rush’s availability.

“They went after Trey Lance, they believe that Dak Prescott is their guy,” Gio said. “I’m not saying the Cowboys want to part with him. That is a call I would make. I would make that call and say ‘What would it take?’ If they say nothing, then fine.”

The 29-year-old Rush has been with Dallas for the past six seasons, and went 4-1 in five starts in 2022 when filling in for the injured Dak Prescott. Gio believes he would present a major upgrade from Wilson, and the Jets should be willing to be aggressive in their pursuit.

“This season is so important for the Jets,” Gio said. “I’d be willing to give up a major pick to bring him in.”
