Boomer says Joe Flacco deserves at least one more half to prove himself as able to hold the fort until Zach Wilson returns, and if the Jets offense is still grounded by halftime of Week 2, then he would go to Mike White.
Gio doesn’t want to wait that long.
“I got wrapped up in the Mike White hype last year,” Gio said. “I’m not saying he’s gonna be the next Kurt warner…but he’s a better option than Joe Flacco right now.
“Clearly he got hurt in the Indianapolis game and wasn’t the same quarterback…who knows, if he doesn’t get hurt maybe we’re talking about a few more wins.”
Boomer countered with White’s eight interceptions that he threw when filling in for Wilson last year, and that he was sacked 18 times, to which Gio responded with his own stat.
“Here’s one for you,” Gio said. “He’s won a football game.
Joe Flacco hasn’t won a game in his last eight starts.
“I wouldn’t expect a ton from Mike White, but I would expect more than what we’ve seen from Joe Flacco.”
