The Denzel Mims era in New York is over, as the Jets have reportedly traded the disgruntled receiver to the Lions for a pair of late-round draft picks.

The return for Gang Green is reportedly a conditional sixth-round pick and a seventh-round pick in 2025.

Mims showed promise in his rookie season, logging 357 receiving yards in eight starts in 2020, but illness and injury hampered the start of his sophomore season, and he never found his way back, struggling in an offense led by Zach Wilson while finding himself buried in the wide receiver depth chart. He expressed frustration with his role, and with the Jets adding Allen Lazard, Randall Cobb, and Mecole Hardman, there was likely no playing time to be had for Mims.

The Jets were reportedly expected to release Mims as they struggled to find a trading partner, but Detroit helped make sure they got something for the former second-round pick.
