Kayvon Thibodeaux was asked on the 7PM to Brooklyn podcast about last offseason for the Giants, when the team signed Daniel Jones to a $160 million deal before placing the franchise tag on Saquon Barkley.

Thibodeaux’s comments immediately opened eyes when he talked about Barkley not getting his contract, as the running back could very well be tagged again this offseason. Thibodeaux expressed his belief in Jones and the Giants front office as another draft approaches, but he was admittedly "mad" about Barkley not getting long-term security given what he has done for the organization.

“You pay Daniel Jones $40 million…and it was a great - I believe in Daniel Jones,” Thibodeaux said. “Let me tell you what I’m mad at…Saquon - because if you look at the tape, Saquon was responsible for at least 30 percent of our explosive plays. Talking about the year we won the playoff game. So for me, and for the integrity of working together and hard work and we all believe the same things, I feel like Saquon should have gotten paid first. That’s what I feel.”

Barkley didn’t shoot down the potential of playing elsewhere next season, after consistently voicing his desire to be a Giant for life. He has voiced his understanding that the NFL is a business, but clearly hasn’t been happy with the franchise tag preventing him from getting a long-term deal after being the Giants’ top offensive weapon since being drafted second overall in 2018.

Clearly, his teammate in Thibodeaux wanted to see Barkley paid as well.
