Keith: Jets hired right man for the job in Aaron Glenn
Aaron Glenn has been named the next head coach of the Jets, and some fans lamented the hire as an all-too familiar formula of bringing in a coach with a defensive background and no head coaching experience.
But Keith says Glenn is different from other recent Jets hires, even if the coaching background seems similar to Robert Saleh and others.
“He’s gonna bring back former players and vibes from the 90s...he’s gonna bring a mentality to the entire team,” Keith said.
“They do have to nail the coaching staff, but Nick Sirianni, an offensive coordinator and first-time head coach, the success he’s had, it’s not all on him...he’s got a solid group of guys coaching under him.”
Keith sees a coach in Glenn that will be able to change the culture in the locker room, and one that will have players buying in to his leadership. For that, he believes New York found the right man for the job.
“Expect a bar to be raised, Aaron Glenn to have a certain standard, former Jets players to come back and be around, and they’re all rooting for this guy,” Keith said.
“Aaron Glenn is not Robert Saleh...you can’t just lump this guy in because his last position was defensive coordinator. He played, check that box off. And then he did every other job leading up to becoming a head coach. He played under Bill Parcells and Bill Belichick. He has so many good qualities.”
