Max Scherzer was roughed up in his postseason debut for the Rangers, allowing five runs in four innings of work to send Texas to its first loss of the postseason.
Keith, who was on air while the Astros were knocking Scherzer around, was less than surprised, to say the least.
“Max Scherzer doing his fake, bulldog, tough guy thing,” Keith said. “Max Scherzer, all that money you’re making, give it back. Hang it up. We’ve seen enough of you. It’s over. Father Time is undefeated, now is your time. Bow out after this one, buddy.
“They should have pitched Dane Dunning…they traded for Max Scherzer, so they wanted to get something out of him. Yeah, they’re getting something out of him. They’re getting batting practice.”
Scherzer had been recovering from injury and was left off the ALDS roster, and given his lack of work down the stretch of the season, and his performance in game three, the Rangers will have to decide what his role is moving forward in the playoffs. If Keith were in Bruce Bochy’s shoes, he would not give Scherzer any kind of role in the pitching staff.
“He is what we thought he was,” Keith said. “A fraud.”
