Daniel Jones still has to clear some crucial hurdles to be considered to play Sunday’s game against the Jets, but Keith wonders if the Giants already have the best quarterback on the field in Tyrod Taylor.
Big Blue’s backup struggled in the second half against Washington, but Keith has seen the Giants offense stabilize with Taylor under center, and even if Jones was ready to go, Taylor is likely the best option to start.
“I don’t see any reason for Tyrod Taylor to be sitting in favor of Daniel Jones this week,” Keith said. “You’re building on something. Tyrod Taylor versus Zach Wilson, who would you rather have? And Tyrod Taylor versus Daniel Jones, who would you rather see right now? I like what I’ve seen from Tyrod Taylor moving the sticks.
“Just two weeks of Tyrod Taylor, and they can move the ball. They can get first downs.”
Of course, Jones will be the starting quarterback in the long term, after signing a four-year contract that pays him $40 million per year. But, in the short term, while the Giants are trying to save their season, Taylor feels like the best option to give Big Blue the best chance of victory.
“Nobody’s quitting on Daniel Jones. We’re talking about my Week 8 against the Jets,” Keith said. “Do you think Daniel Jones gives you a better chance to win based on what you’ve seen this season?”
