Kevin Durant pulled off one of the top highlight reel plays of the NBA season so far on Friday night.
With the Nets up double digits in the final minute of the first quarter, Durant dribbled in from the top of the key, planted his right foot and crossed over to his left, then quickly crossed back to his right, dropping Daniel Gafford to the ground with the ultimate ankle-breaker.
Gafford watched from the floor as Durant sank the elbow jumper to send the Washington crowd, Durant’s hometown fans, into an eruption, while the Brooklyn bench were left in disbelief.
“That was tough,” Royce O’Neale said. “I think you've seen everybody's reaction. Great play, great player.”
Durant finished with 28 points, nine rebounds, and 11 assists in the blowout victory, but no bucket was more memorable than his viral ankle-breaker.
