The 2020 NBA Draft was all in the family for former Nets top pick Kenyon Martin, as his son, KJ, was selected by Sacramento with the No. 52 pick.

KJ, given name Kenyon Lee Martin Jr., was one of several prospects in the 2020 Draft who skipped college to instead spend their mandatory post-secondary year elsewhere. In his case, he passed on a commitment to Vanderbilt for a prep year at IMG Academy in Florida, where he averaged 19.6 points, 8.3 rebounds, 1.5 steals, and 1.1 blocks in 30 minutes per game for their post-graduate team.

The 19-year-old, who stands 6-foot-7, averaged 16.7 points and 9.8 rebounds for Los Angeles’ Sierra Canyon High School in 2018-19, playing alongside Cassius Stanley – who was selected No. 54 overall by Indiana after one year at Duke – and fellow second-generation star Scottie Pippen Jr.

Kenyon Martin Sr. was selected by the Nets with the No. 1 overall pick in the 2000 NBA Draft and spent 15 years in the NBA, the first four in New Jersey and one-and-a-half with the Knicks towards the end.
