Thursday, 10 a.m., Battery Park at the tip of Manhattan: the parade we’ve been waiting a half-century for officially begins!
New York City Mayor Zohran Mamdani confirmed the first official details of the Knicks’ parade on Thursday, announcing it will kick off at 10 a.m. Thursday at the Battery and travel about a mile up the Canyon of Heroes (or Broadway, most days) to City Hall, where the Knicks will have a celebration ceremony and receive keys to the city.
Why Thursday?
"We wanted to make sure that not only were the players here, but their families were here as well," Mayor Mandani said. "This is a moment they have been waiting for and fighting for, and we don't want anyone to miss out on it because of a quick turnaround."
Additional details will be made available as the week goes on, but Mayor Mandani did also say that City Hall, the David N. Dinkins Manhattan Municipal Building, and Brooklyn Borough Hall will be lit up in blue and orange on Thursday night, with additional city buildings also potentially participating.
“It’s an incredible moment for the city; we’ve been waiting for this for over 50 years,” Mayor Mamdani said as he joined Evan, Tiki, and Shaun on a special Sunday morning show. “It’s a moment to honor a team that has brought the City together in a way many people have never seen, and this is something we cannot wait for.”
