Julius Randle took a hard foul from Jarrett Allen late in game two of the Knicks’ blowout loss to the Cavaliers on Tuesday night, and Allen was assessed a flagrant one after crashing into Randle while the New York All-Star was finishing a dunk.
Randle, who hit the ground hard after the foul with just over two minutes to go in a game that was well in hand, clearly took some exception to the contact from Allen while he was airborne.
“I thought it was a little unnecessary,” Randle said. “I understand playoff basketball. You’re gonna give up more plays, I respect that. I’m a guy who plays hard. Typically, when you make those kind of plays, you run across their body, not through them. But it's fine, it's irrelevant.”
What is much more relevant for Randle and the Knicks is the fact that they were thoroughly outplayed, facing a 20-point deficit at halftime and never recovering to make it any semblance of a competitive match, as Cleveland evened the series heading back to New York for game three on Friday night.
“We get to go back to the Garden,” Randle said. “And we'll see them there.”
