In addition to Lonzo Ball, Andre Drummond was another potential trade chip that wound up staying put after Thursday’s trade deadline, after the Knicks were rumored to be among the possible landing spots.

But despite Drummond not being traded, New York could still be in the running to grab the All-Star center.

According to Jake Fischer of Bleacher Report, the Knicks are among the teams that Drummond could wind up with after he finalizes a buyout with the Cavaliers, with the Lakers as the other possible destination. After Drummond wasn’t dealt on Thursday, it was reported that the two-time All-Star would reach a buyout agreement after more than a month of Drummond being benched while the team searched for a suitable trade partner.

The Knicks were involved in trade rumors leading up to the deadline, with the Nets being named as a possible suitor as well. Brooklyn recently acquired Blake Griffin after he and the Pistons agreed to a buyout.

Drummond, in the last year of a $28.7 million deal, is averaging 17.5 points and 13.5 rebounds per game in 25 games this season. The Knicks would have to unclog their frontcourt should they make a move for Drummond, with Mitchell Robinson just returning from a fractured hand and Nerlens Noel serving as a suitable center in Robinson’s absence.
