After much speculation, the Knicks are indeed moving on from Obi Toppin.
According to multiple reports, New York is trading Toppin to the Pacers for two future second-round picks, ending the lottery pick's three-year tenure with the Knicks.
The move for the Knicks frees up cap space for a future signing, as New York reportedly covets Donte DiVencenzo.
Toppin, New York's eighth overall pick in 2020, never found consistent playing time under Tom Thibodeau, and reportedly had a shouting match with the head coach after game four of the Eastern Conference Semifinals in Miami, when Toppin wasn't happy with his workload. Toppin averaged just over 15 minutes per game last season, as Julius Randle ate up the bulk of the minutes, with Thibodeau reluctant to play the two together.
