LaMarcus Aldridge back with the Nets in 2021-22?

According to NBA insider Shams Charania, Aldridge, who abruptly retired last April due to a heart condition, has received full medical clearance to return to the NBA, and the Nets are the leading contenders to sign him.

Aldridge, 36, joined the Nets last season after being bought out by San Antonio. However, he played just five games, averaging 12.8 points and 4.4 rebounds, before sitting out due to what was thought to be illness. He was found to have Wolff-Parkinson-White syndrome, a condition that causes rapid heartbeat due to an extra electrical pathway, and told The Athletic about what happened in what is, as of now, his final NBA game this past April.

“Normally when I get on the court, my case study is that I would go into regular rhythm as I got my heart rate up. It had never been out of rhythm in a game and then it was out of rhythm for the Lakers game and I was just off and couldn't get no energy. I just couldn't get myself going. I couldn't figure out what was going on."

Aldridge has averaged 19.4 points, 8.2 rebounds, and 2.0 assists per game over 15 NBA seasons with Portland, San Antonio, and Brooklyn, and it appears he will now have a chance to add to that.
