Lawrence Taylor calls in to Evan and Tiki after being named top New York sports draft pick ever

The Evan and Tiki crew revealed the final four selections of their top 20 New York draft picks of the last 50 years on Wednesday afternoon, and shortly after, the No. 1 pick on the list called in to say hello!

Just after Evan and Tiki made the picks known, completing the list that began last week, Lawrence Taylor called into the show to talk about the honor of being named the best draft pick the city has seen in the last half century.

Evan and Tiki congratulated Taylor, and his response was:

“On what?”

Taylor beat out the likes of Patrick Ewing, Derek Jeter, and Eli Manning, and would be hard to argue against for being put in the top spot. Arguably the greatest Giant of all time, Taylor was inducted in the Pro Football Hall of Fame in 1999 after 13 NFL seasons in which he racked up 10 Pro Bowl selections, nine All-Pro honors, 132.5 sacks, 20.5 of them coming in 1986 when he set the franchise record for sacks in a season.

A lifelong Giant, Taylor is known as one of the best linebackers of all time, won two Super Bowls with Big Blue, and more than justified his draft pick of second overall in 1981.

“I’m elated to own the city,” Taylor said. “I own the city now!”
