The Mets, having just been swept by a Cardinals team that they are chasing in the Wild Card standings, now sit with just a 1.1 percent chance to make the postseason, per Baseball Reference.
But don't tell that to manager Luis Rojas, who is still keeping the faith as New York sits three games below .500 and five games out of both the division and a Wild Card spot.
"We still have a chance, and it's real that we have a chance," Rojas said. "We can take advantage of the day off [Thursday], because it's needed. We've had a lot of long games lately, and I think it's gonna come in handy, guys getting some rest and then coming in to play the Phillies, which is another team that's in the way."

The Mets have lost seven out of 10 after getting pounded 11-4 by St, Louis in Wednesday night's series finale, further burying the team out of the playoff race with just over two weeks to go in the season.
"It's tough to get swept, and it's tough to lose games against teams you're fighting for a spot," Rojas said.
Still, Rojas insists that the upcoming series has just as much importance as the one the team just wasted against the Cardinals. Reality is likely setting in for Mets fans that this will not be the team's first postseason berth since 2016, but that realism is not making its way into the clubhouse, at least not yet.
"We just have to keep moving forward," Rojas said. "I pray that everyone gets that rest tomorrow and we come in the next day with that rest and keep moving forward. There's a real chance."
